Hotel Brenner

We paid 500€ for two days through Booking. The rooms were nice and warm, and we had a good breakfast. I'd recommend the toast with cheese and salami, currant juice, yogurt Bianco, and plain croissants. We also made tea at the reception sink, which can dispense boiling water into a cup. Check-in was self-service and we got our card, but booking for three people meant reserving two rooms. They only gave us two cards for two rooms, and the outside doors need a keycard. Luckily, we had another card for the other room. Without it, we couldn't have got into the room or even the hotel. The receptionist finishes at 20:00, which was fine with me. The elevator is old, and when someone with us was late getting in, his leg got stuck between the doors and the elevator itself. I managed to press the open button, but the doors crashed loudly 🫣. P.S. The car was so cold in the morning that my Coca-Cola had literally frozen! (Picture included)

We knew this was a hotel right by the highway and booked with that in mind. The rooms were very quiet, clean, and neatly decorated. We got a warm, friendly welcome, and the staff were especially kind about our stressed mood after the long drive. Breakfast was a buffet with plenty of choices, some fresh fruit, and sweet pastries. It's worth paying extra for it. We also liked the little self-service tea kitchen by reception, where you can make tea any time, get fresh glasses, and refill drinking water. The snack and drink vending machine was a bit empty when we visited, though maybe other guests had already cleared it out. We got a bit lost after following the booking directions. As of summer 2023, roadworks at the highway exit meant closed roads and detours, which made us unsure where to go. The route from the other side was clearly signed. We don't know how long the construction will last, or whether you always have to drive through a parking lot, but clearer directions could help. We also misunderstood the booking information and thought there was a restaurant directly in the hotel. There isn't one, though there are restaurants in the village if you head out. The photos and references to a restaurant could be clearer.

The rooms were spacious and tidy, with comfortable beds that suited us. The shower was good, although its drain was a little clogged. We had no electricity or lights in our room when we arrived at 10 pm. Reception was closed, and even though there was an emergency number, we didn't think the problem was severe enough to call, so we managed without power overnight. At breakfast, which was wonderful, we got a thorough apology and they gave thought to how to sort it out. The hotel is handy for the route from Austria into Italy, but being across from a truck stop isn't ideal. The 24/7 check-in service worked smoothly. We think it's a good choice if you're passing through.

The staff were incredibly helpful. When we ran into a personal issue, they went out of their way to help us sort it out. A big thank you! The hotel is great and very conveniently located. We were traveling with bikes, and it worked perfectly for us.
