Hotel Montemerlo

We chose Fetovaia for two nights because we wanted to spend that time by the beach. If you plan to explore beyond the area and don't have a car or scooter, Marina di Campo may be a better base, with a bus ride to the beach. The last bus is around 8 pm, and there isn't much else for dinner nearby. We ate at the hotel, where dinner costs €30 for a menu or €20 for a main dish as of May 2025. The food was high quality, with the small portions you'd expect at a traditional trattoria. Booking half-board with the stay may save a little, and the hotel website generally has better deals than booking sites. Calamara is another dinner option, though it costs more. The room was newly renovated and very clean. Its air conditioning maintains a set temperature when the balcony door is shut. It felt a bit bare, with just one picture on the wall, so some more decoration would help. The hotel itself is small, but we spent most of our time at Fetovaia beach anyway. The pool area is pleasant, with greenery and trees, and the pool isn't overly chlorinated because they use salt to extract the chlorine. Breakfast was fantastic, especially if you like Italian options and homemade cakes. There were around four kinds of bread, cheese, ham, yogurt, and cereal. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and we had a relaxed stay with no problems. The beach is marvelous and right nearby.
