Olivier and Martina were already waiting when my train reached Campofelice, so my worry about losing phone service after leaving the airport came to nothing. I’d messaged them with my train details beforehand, but the internet wasn’t working on the train, or on any train during my time in Sicily. There is a WiFi connection, but no internet. I hope Trenitalia sorts that out soon. The hosts explained everything carefully, showed me how to reach them, and even left a delicious welcome gift. They speak English, French, Polish, and Italian. The location is very convenient, with restaurants, cafes, bakeries, bars, and grocery stores within a 0-5 minute walk. A large Conad is four minutes south, and there’s an even larger store and a recently opened Eurospin near the station. The spacious master bedroom has an ensuite with a big walk-in shower, rain shower head, and excellent water pressure, even for a very tall person. Upstairs are two twin beds and a smaller bathroom with a shower by the kitchen. The house sleeps six, with a sofabed or possibly a folding bed as well. The well-equipped kitchen has a Moka, gas/electric stovetop, electric oven, microwave, toaster, and good-sized fridge freezer. The terrace off the kitchen is a real jewel, with a million dollar view over the Tyrrhenian Sea, part of the Mediterranean. Lovely for morning coffee or lunch. I didn’t have a car, but street parking seemed easy and free. Getting to the station is the downside: there’s no public transport to or from it. My hosts kindly offered a ride or pickup. It’s about a twenty-minute walk, or four minutes by car, and the relatively new station has plenty of free parking. Cefalù is two stops east and Termini Imerese one stop west. In summer, there’s apparently some sort of shuttle to the beach near the station. Weekends get lively, so there can be evening noise. I shut the doors, shutters, and curtains and it didn’t really bother me. Being in the center on the main street comes with that trade-off, and I was happy with it for the convenience of walking everywhere. An excellent property and location.
