Aquazzurra Resort & Aparthotel

We were glad to find that pets are genuinely welcome. They even gave our little dog a pink blanket! The apartment itself, though, didn't live up to being advertised as “luxury.” We stayed seven days without housekeeping, and fresh towels cost extra. There was just one old, uncomfortable sofa bed downstairs, and the kitchen didn't have a kettle. The pool was already closed even though the weather was nice. The terrace chairs and table had no cushions, and the bright white lighting made the place feel uninviting. Dimmers would have helped.

The hotel is very nice and clean, with a lovely pool and friendly staff. It's right by a busy road.

I remember it as Vila Patricia, if I've got the name right. I've stayed twice and found it a lovely place, with good amenities and an outdoor pool. It's handy for town, and the Sunday market is great.

The room made it hard to rest: it was very noisy, and the mattresses were so firm that a good night's sleep was out of reach. The furnishings also didn't feel like four-star quality. We only had paper cups, for example, and the TV was tiny, smaller than some computer screens. After our long drive, we had hoped to explore Cannobio and use the underground parking we'd booked around noon. Reception was very rude when telling us we couldn't use the garage until 3 p.m., even though we only wanted to park and weren't asking to check in. It was market day, so there was nowhere else to park, and we had to drive another 15 minutes to a different town. That's not customer service. The price for what we got was completely unacceptable. We won't come back.
