Hotel Giardino

Set among maritime pines in a really quiet area, this family-run hotel made a lovely base for our week-long stay at the end of August. We had half board in a triple room, and the rooms were cleaned very thoroughly every day. Elena and Antonella welcomed us warmly and took care of us throughout. Dinner offered a choice of dishes each evening, all well cooked and served in generous portions. It was three courses, with a vegetable buffet too. The food and service were both very good, and the sea was only a few minutes away on foot, with a choice of public or private beach.

Lacona beach is an easy 8-10 minute walk, and the port of Portoferraio is 20 minutes away. We stayed six days as a family, and the owner and staff were very friendly. Our room was spacious and spotless, and each room has its own parking space in the pine forest. Breakfast had a good range of sweet and savory things. Lunch and dinner offer three first courses and three second courses to choose from. There’s a small playground for children and a ping pong table, plus a shower to use after the sea on departure day.

The atmosphere was cheerful and easygoing, with evening entertainment and plenty for kids and teenagers: ping pong, football, table tennis, swings, slides, and a few other games. Everyone seemed at ease here. The room was neat and clean, the bathroom was new, and having a refrigerator was a nice surprise. Meals were fresh, varied, and very generous, sometimes almost too much. Breakfast could use some fresh fruit and more choice of cakes and yogurt. The staff were very friendly and keen to help. The only small downside was the poor Wi-Fi and phone reception throughout the hotel. We had a great time, even better than expected, and didn't want to come back!
