Gamberino

This was our third year in a row at Gamberino di Capraia, staying in the “Dentice” apartment, the largest one, with a lovely terrace. From there, it’s a two-minute walk to Piazza Milano, where the Church of San Nicola is. You can then head down to the port or take one of the many paths inland. If you come by car, free parking is available beside the heliport. Be careful not to use spaces reserved for residents, as that could mean a fine. “Dentice” has everything we need, including WiFi, digital TV and air conditioning for when natural ventilation isn’t enough. We always come in September and haven’t needed the air conditioning yet. One small detail: Google Maps places Gamberino about 50 meters too far north, so its location there isn’t quite right.

The best part of our first-floor apartment was the large terrace, where we could have breakfast, lunch and dinner outside while looking at the sea on the horizon. The place had everything we needed, including a washing machine. You enter from the terrace into the kitchen and living room, which has a queen-size sofa bed that can easily sleep two. There’s also a bathroom with a balcony and a double bedroom. The property has three apartments, two downstairs and one upstairs, each named after a fish. Highly recommended!

Sofia is a wonderful host. She welcomes you, offers advice, and listens, and that made our holiday even better. Gamberino felt like a precious little escape from everyday life, tucked into a fragrant garden. The setting is enchanting, the welcome thoughtful, and comfort is assured. It was a wonderful vacation.
