We stayed in both apartments during our short visit, and the host’s kindness and availability made that possible. The listings and Google Maps left us confused because the apartments appeared to be in separate places, though they’re actually in the same building. Casa Maria is on the lower level. It has no roof terrace and no access to Casa Checca’s terrace. Its own small balcony seats two and has a partly blocked view of old Caprarola; from the enclosed part by the bedroom, you can see more of the town. Casa Checca is above the grocery shop, which was handy for breakfast shopping, though it closes on Sundays. Its living areas and bedroom face a narrow street and a tall old building, so there isn’t a view of Caprarola from those rooms. The public Parcheggio Ex-Scuderie is behind that building, across the access street. The big difference is the rooftop: Casa Checca is the only apartment with that terrace and its 360-degree view, including Farnese Palace. We’d return to either place, but would choose Casa Checca for the terrace. Parking on the nearby public streets can be scarce, though in the off-season we found it easier to park a short walk away. Blue-marked spaces are paid by the hour. One small mattress note: Checca’s double bed was too soft for us, while Maria’s medium-soft one was much better. Both apartments also have sofa beds that expand to sleep two.

We could easily have stayed a week. The location makes it a lovely base for discovering Caprarola and trying the local restaurants, and the apartment felt like home, with everything we needed and then some. It was spotless, thoughtfully designed and stocked, with coffee, water, snacks and a gift pack of local chocolate. The rooftop was made for sitting back and taking in the landscape, and the views from the apartment were spectacular. Stefania was a delight to deal with, so kind and helpful. We only wish our stay had been longer.

Caprarola and this apartment were a real surprise on our way to Naples. We found free parking in a nearby lot, and the beautiful, historically important Villa Farnese is just a stone’s throw away. The apartment was modern, cosy and well stocked, with a lovely welcome basket. We kept watching the world go by from the rooftop until we got cold. The views up there are stunning. I’d definitely come back.

The upstairs terrace was a highlight, with views stretching as far as Soratte and beyond. We stayed at Casa Checca on November 1st, and the local products in the welcome kit were a lovely touch. The place was impeccably clean, the renovation was high quality, and the shower was wonderful. The furnishings and guest supplies were brand new and top quality, which is rare for a property of this kind. For what you get, the price felt absolutely reasonable, even low. It’ll be our first choice next time we’re in the beautiful Tuscia area.

The terrace is spectacular, and the apartment is comfortable, well equipped and nicely appointed. Stefania was very helpful over the phone, and a friend of hers welcomed us just as kindly. We’ll definitely recommend it to friends visiting Tuscia.
