Hotel Gattopardo

We could relax on the open balcony listening to the waves, and the room was clean and smelled fresh. It’s only a few steps from the sea, with a great spot for walking down to the water or along the main street in the evening. The owner was very kind. We’ll definitely return.

The bill for two appetizers and three pizzas was already a lot, and we paid €9.00 for the industrial seaweed fritters my son ordered off the menu. They brought about ten on a small plate, frozen and pre-fried. You can get 1 kg in frozen food stores for €3, which is absurd!! The pizzas were a bit burnt. We also had two platters with cured meats, cheese in oil and similar things, not fresh fish, so I can’t really comment on the quality. It’s a nice, well-organized beach and restaurant, and the staff were average. One star for the price!!!!

For me, good manners matter most in the restaurant business. You can have the best food and the loveliest place, but a paying customer shouldn’t be treated rudely. My girlfriend and I had been at the beach nearby, and we considered having a shower there and booking a table for dinner because the place looked nice by the sea. We booked, then politely asked if we could shower and get dressed in the bathroom. While she was changing, the waiter opened the door without knocking and said, “COMPANY, close the door,” in a really arrogant way. I’m not fussy and don’t expect perfection or a party when I arrive. Still, that kind of treatment isn’t okay. The place is beautiful, and you can enjoy excellent pizza and food with a stunning view of the marvelous sea of Cariati. Everything else seemed in order, but I’m giving one star because of what happened.

The service is handled by young people, and both the service and ingredient quality are definitely above the local average. We had dinner at this restaurant on a beach near the Cariati seafront.
