The staff made us feel very welcome, and breakfast was abundant. The hotel has lovely decor, and everything else was perfect. The mattress, though, was too hard.

I spent four days on the toilet with diarrhea after eating a panino that seemed to be contaminated. The stay was just ok.

It was ok.

There's a strong 70s and 80s feel here, with lots of memories and a few American touches from the owners' years in the States. Furniture from different generations sits alongside handmade doilies and curtains, fresh flowers, and a red mailbox. Mada and Joe have made a distinctive place in Carloforte on San Pietro Island, Sardinia. Expect spacious bathrooms, good mattresses, coffee ground and roasted just right, and fresh pastries. If home automation and modernity are what you want, this probably isn't the hotel for you.
