Antico Rifugio

We had to contact the host before we could find this accommodation in the historic center, where traffic is limited. Parking nearby costs money, even overnight. Our ground-floor room had no windows apart from two small ones beside the front door. We couldn’t open them because people were walking through the alley outside. There was no cell reception, and Wi-Fi only came and went near the door. A bar’s speakers were less than 5 meters from the room, with loud music until 1:00 AM and people shouting and talking late into the night. Inside, the bedside lamp was broken, the bathroom had no toilet seat, the paper holder was loose, and the plastic shower curtain was really filthy. For the service we got, it was far too expensive. I don’t recommend it.

The bar in the courtyard next door was loud until 2 a.m., with the speakers seeming to be right behind the wall. That cost it a point for me. If you’re after a place to party and drink beside a bar, it could be just right. But I wouldn’t recommend it for anyone with small children who need to sleep. The accommodation itself was lovely, rustic, very clean, and comfortable.

There’s no breakfast served in the room, which was the one drawback, though bars are right next door in the historic center. The B&B was clean and well kept, and during a really hot spell the air conditioning made our short stay much more comfortable. The owner was kind and helpful.

It’s a quaint, nice-looking B&B, but the rooms felt cold because the air conditioning wasn’t effective. The hairdryer and water heater kept tripping the power. We weren’t given the Wi-Fi password by the owner because we were only staying one night, and some rooms had no cell service at all. Sadly, it wasn’t a pleasant experience.
