The resort was huge and busy, but it didn’t have enough facilities for the number of people. Our package included B&B, evening dinner, and drinks, yet getting even a light lunch snack meant paying €25 to eat in the main dining area. Inclusive drinks, including coffee, were only available at certain times in one bar. There was nothing available from 9:30am to 7:30pm. When my friend was unwell and missed breakfast, she had no access to food from 7:30pm the night before until 7:30pm the next day. The dining room was noisy and crowded. Hot food came lukewarm on cold plates, and the choices were unappealing. Puglia is famous for its bread, but sadly there wasn’t any at the resort. On the first night my bottom sheet had damp mould spots, though the sheets were changed regularly after that. Getting from the accommodation to reception and the dining room involved a lot of walking. There was no cover if it rained, and the open tiled area on the way to reception was very slippery, especially hazardous for people with mobility issues. Staff were helpful and seemed plentiful. We booked a buggy to help with luggage on our last day, but it never showed, so we had to manage on our own. My first experience in Italy was hugely disappointing.

The little trains to the hotel’s private beach and beach bar were great, and there was plenty of entertainment, though we didn’t really join in. The hotel itself is pleasant, with small apartment buildings set along cozy paths among trees and green areas. The Italian food was good too. Margarita at reception was especially helpful and service minded. She also speaks Polish, which is a big plus for Polish speakers. The rest of the staff were very pleasant. The kids’ pool could use some work and a fresh coat of paint. A simple little playground in the pool with a slide would make a big difference.

The person who kept us going was Gioacchino, who helped us with excursions. He was a top bloke, full of knowledge, and happy to help with anything. After a couple of days of our ten-night stay, we were already thinking about flying home. Most of the staff seemed to prefer looking after their fellow countrymen, so Reception and some of the bar staff should take note. The resort could use a full decorating job. We booked through Tui, and they have some explaining to do. I agree with the other one-star reviews.

We spent all three days enjoying the beach and pool, where there was always some activity guests could join. Dinner was especially good, and we loved the evening pizzas. The hospitality and amenities really impressed my husband and me. We checked in late at night, and dinner had been arranged in our room. On checkout day, we could stay at the resort until 5pm and have lunch, though we had to leave the room by 10am. We came away with great memories.
