Isola Verde

Right across from the beach, with a big open patio that’s great for a coffee or cocktail. The staff were friendly and the service was great. I loved the gelato, especially the melone, though all the flavors we tried were wonderful and refreshing.

A lovely place to stop for coffee when visiting Velia, and a perfect spot for sunset.

The cake was dry, and at 4 euros a slice I felt ripped off, especially given how rude the staff were. I ordered three slices of Caprese cake and asked if we could eat outside. They said the last table was reserved, which I’ve never encountered in a pastry shop, but fine, so I decided to take the slices away and paid. In other circumstances the price would have been okay, but Caprese cake should be a rich, moist, flavorful chocolate dessert. From outside, the place looked like a trendy spot, but I found it very disappointing and overrated. I waited five minutes for the waiter to notice me because he was talking to another employee about the upcoming soccer tournament. I don’t recommend it.

The wine was good, and it’s a nice place. The waiter was busy texting and I had to ask three times for the menu. The staff were very impolite, service was insane.
