La Voce del Mare

We booked at the last minute and spent one night here with my wife. The farmhouse is a lovely old building, and the owners have set up rooms alongside it. Giovanni was very kind and ready with tips about local tourism and other things. It’s quiet enough to get a good night’s sleep, and breakfast on the panoramic terrace was a highlight, with warm pastries and local fruit. The room could use work, especially the bathroom. I’m giving three stars because of the owners’ passion and determination to keep the place going.

We’d be glad to come back for the peaceful setting and the view from the solarium. We stayed for a weekend at this place, which was new to us. Our room was basic but clean and welcoming, and the food based on local traditions was excellent. Giovanni was warm, friendly and very kind, and gave us detailed suggestions for places to visit.

We spent two weeks here on a B&B basis and really appreciated the generous breakfast, with plenty of different baked goods. Giovanni made us feel comfortable straight away and was happy to handle guests’ requests. It was clean and peaceful, and everyone was kind. We’d recommend it and plan to return.

We found the rooms extremely clean, with comfortable beds and useful touches like air conditioning, a hairdryer and a TV. The empty minibar was especially handy in summer. The property itself is spacious and clean, with roomy common areas. In summer, the huge terrace is a lovely place for breakfast or dinner, with loungers and a hot tub for relaxing. Casal Velino worked well for our holiday plans. Marina di Casal Velino and its wide sandy bay are about 3-3.5 km away, a good option for families with small children. Velia is a five-minute drive away, and Marina di Ascea takes about ten minutes. Going toward Salerno, Acciaroli is around 25 minutes away, Punta Licosa about 50 minutes, and Castellabate is also close by. Toward Sapri, Palinuro is roughly 50 minutes away and Marina di Camerota about an hour. Both can be very busy in August, so staying in quieter Casal Velino made for a nice balance on a relaxing trip. Breakfast included local favorites such as sfogliatelle ricce or smooth, croissants in different flavors, fresh fruit juice, cereal with milk, and seasonal fruit. Giovanni grows excellent produce on his farm, including Cilento figs and plums. Dinner was entirely optional and included a first and second course. The owner was willing to accommodate children with allergies or who didn’t like a particular dish. The food was excellent, with delicious local cooking from Giovanni, who is a very good chef. We stayed a week and ate at the hotel on five days, and were very happy with it. Giovanni and his wife clearly do this work with passion, and guests’ satisfaction comes first. I felt looked after throughout the holiday. For lunches while touring the coast, Mr. Giovanni suggested a bakery selling stuffed olive oil rolls for €1.50 each. When he found out my partner was pregnant and craving figs, he went to his land to pick some and brought us a full plate for a snack. He also guided me to great places along the best routes, let me try his organic wine, and offered me a glass of his homemade grappa each evening, which I really enjoyed. The coast’s beautiful sea is free and open to everyone. It was a top-notch family holiday, with a lot of credit due to Mr. Giovanni, his wife and their establishment. We’ll definitely return.
