Hotel Gemma

The yard has a large, welcoming pool, and from the rooftop solarium you get a beautiful view toward Naples and Mt. Vesuvius. The staff were great, and the location was good. Highly recommend it!

The staff were friendly, helpful, and good humoured, and the rooms were cleaned daily with fresh towels. Breakfast had yogurt, fruit, cheese, meat, cake, omelette, juices, cereal, and excellent espresso. Eating on the terrace with those breathtaking views was a treat. There’s a large heated pool, a thermal water pool, and a rooftop sun terrace. The bus stops right outside, and the weekly ticket was great value at 14.50 euro. The spacious balcony had stunning views over the gulf of Naples. Pure heaven. Love, love, love this place.

The rooms were decent, the pool was warm, and the air conditioning and WiFi both worked well. It’s a lovely family run hotel, with kind staff who went out of their way to help. Just keep in mind that the bus routes to get around the island are crowded. Taxis are the way to go. All in all, a great place to stay.

The staff are friendly, which was the bright spot. The bed was extremely hard, though few people seem to mention it. The hotel is on a very busy road, so expect noise, including ambulance sirens at 1 am. Its location was awkward for us: there’s a bus stop nearby, but we had to stand in blistering heat for 25-30 min before we could get on, which wasn’t convenient. The crowd was mostly elderly Italians who were quiet. There were also flies all over the pool area, landing on us and never letting up no matter how much we shooed them away. Stay here and you’ll see what I mean. At least it’s cheap, lol.
