Casale Refoli

Giovanni and Pia made us feel like family, and their little dog Teo and kitten Paulocchio kept us company throughout the stay. We came back to this rural home in Tuscany after 15 years, and it felt even more special this time. The house is comfortable, clean, and welcoming. The property has kept its original character while improving the details, and the recently renovated pool and its surroundings are wonderfully peaceful. The setting is full of nature and quiet, in a great spot near Siena for exploring Tuscany. It was a dream stay, and we'd gladly return for a fourth time.

Getting there is a little challenging, though you know that when you book. Once you're there, the location is fantastic for peace and relaxation. The host is friendly and never intrusive, and is always happy to chat or share tips about the area. The rooms are lovely and well looked after, and the pool is beautifully placed. Each apartment also has its own shaded spot with sun loungers. Definitely five stars.

We stayed for two very pleasant weeks in August 2023 at Casale Refoli, one of its five apartments. It’s a beautifully renovated old farmhouse with a rustic feel and all the comforts we needed. The pool is large and pleasant, with loungers and a separate enclosed area for each apartment. The countryside setting is peaceful, maybe a bit too quiet for some: the nearest village takes 10 minutes by car, including 2 km on gravel, and the closest supermarket is about 30 minutes away. The location works well for day trips, with Siena 45 minutes away, Florence an hour, and San Gimignano 30 minutes. A great spot for a restful break in rural Tuscany.

The place is peaceful, with only the sounds of nature breaking the silence. It sits on a small hill and has a pool and private parking. The dirt track to the farmhouse isn't suitable for low cars, like sporty sports cars. A few little things could be better, but we came away with a very positive impression.
