Edra Palace

The breakfast buffet is so generous it feels like you can take as much as you can carry. Rooms were clean, modern, and quiet, and the hotel itself felt elegant and well run. Staff were friendly and helpful. A very pleasant surprise for the price, especially for a stopover or short stay.

We ran into car trouble, and the staff went well out of their way to help us. The hotel has an old-world, luxurious feel, a lovely garden, and a generous breakfast buffet. I’d definitely recommend it.

The grounds are beautiful, the staff very polite, and the views of monte cassino and the surrounding area are great. The rooms are clean, though a little dated. There’s very little English spoken, but that’s to be expected in Italy. What put me off was the way food and drinks are billed. The bar or restaurant sends the bill to reception without telling you the amount, so you only find out when checking out. I really disapprove of this, and I’m sure other guests do too. I would have spent more time eating and drinking at the hotel, but went to nearby restaurants instead. Tip for the hotel: install a till in the restaurant and bar, and you’ll get better business.

We booked just a day before arriving while on a road tour of Italy, and there was no problem. The hotel was clean and beautifully decorated, with plenty of parking and a pleasant garden to stroll in. We enjoyed the complimentary breakfast, then came back for dinner. The meal was delicious, and the waitstaff were attentive and friendly. If you want to explore the Cassino area, the Abby of Monte Cassino is a short drive away, at the top of the mountain. I recommend the hotel. One thing could be better: the bed was too firm and the pillows were flat.
