The kids and I spent the day at Cavallino Matto before staying at this family-run place, and it exceeded what I expected. It’s even prettier than the pictures, with a wide lawn looking out toward the hilltop village of Castagneto Carducci. Our room opened onto greenery, and in the morning we woke to birdsong and the smell of fresh pastries coming through the window. We had a wonderful breakfast under a big tree in the back garden, then spent the whole day at the pool. Lunch at the restaurant was excellent, as was their own Vermentino wine. I wish we could’ve stayed longer. This will be a special place for me to visit with my kids. For people who love nature and being active, there are tennis courts, a soccer field, a basketball court, and a hiking trail. I saw bikers passing through too. They supposedly run children’s summer camps in June and July, and I can imagine how fun it would be to camp here. What a lovely discovery!

The owner was so welcoming, and the service was amazing and tailored to what we wanted. It’s also a great place for triathlon training, with a 900 m track and a pool, plus a good starting point for rides. The staff were friendly and supportive. We’ll definitely return.

A real gem, away from Rome’s crowds and masses. A peaceful place to reconnect with your loved one and unplug from the fast-paced world.
