Casadonna Reale

We were given a complimentary room upgrade, and both dinner and breakfast were fantastic. The whole experience was amazing from arrival until we left the next day. Getting there by public transport isn't possible, and rain meant we couldn't explore outdoors. We'll definitely return.

The breakfast was a highlight: there were so many freshly made pastries, breads, and biscuits that it was hard to resist, along with lovely sweet and savory treats. Even a simple poached egg was so good I won't want another style again. Thick slices of brioche with aged Comté cheese and tasty pork were delicious too. The rooms were comfortable and well stocked, and my view looked like a picture I'd want to take home. Casadonna sits on a hill in Castel di Sangro, with a beautiful landscape. I visited in fall, the last weekend of October 2019, when the trees were vivid red, yellow, and amber. Service at Casadonna was second to none. Everyone on the team made me feel valued, and their attention was excellent.

Chef Niko served a fantastic 12 course dinner, straightforward in concept but full of complex flavors, and the restaurant went beyond what I expected. The staff were highly professional and the service was outstanding. The entrance is a little deceptive, since you pass an athletic rec area, but once there the beauty of the Reale is clear. The rooms are lovely, spacious, and have a gorgeous view. From the moment we arrived, it was an amazing stay and meal, one of the most enjoyable we've ever had.

The food is obviously the main attraction, and the place has a 3 star Michelin restaurant. I stayed one night and loved the beautiful, stylish, modern, clean room. The staff and premises were just as good. Perfection all around, and one of the best places I've stayed. If you're thinking about going, just do it!
