Massimo, the other owner, made homemade cakes, pastries, and jams for breakfast. Try the milk jam, it’s somewhere between condensed milk and a white spread. Our room had a balcony with a lovely mountain view, though some buildings got in the way. The hotel is clean, cozy, and centrally located. Mario, one of the owners, was very kind, if a little intrusive. We’d come for the truffle festival in a nearby town and stayed three days. He suggested some of the town’s best restaurants and an organized walk to the castle ruins, which turned out to be a wonderful event. I recommend Il Boscaiolo, I had the best ruins of my life. I think I’ll stay here again if I return to Castel di Sangro.

Mario looked after our motorcycles in his garage, which we really appreciated. He’s thoughtful and takes good care of his guests. This was our second stay at il Tiglio, and the place was lovely, fresh, and clean, with fresh homemade breakfast products. Thanks, Mario. We’ll be back for that motorcycle tour of the area you suggested.

Only five minutes from the main square, so the location is pretty good. Breakfast includes local and homemade products, and the place is very nice and clean. Mario is passionate about his work and really wants to help people feel comfortable.

Massimo’s breakfast desserts were just as delicious as I remembered, and Mario was every bit as friendly and accommodating. This was my second stay in three years, and I wasn’t sure what to expect with the COVID restrictions. The rooms are spacious, and Mario takes extra care to keep the hotel sanitized and guests healthy. When our plans changed, he let us check out late. Il Tiglio is only a short walk from everything in Castel di Sangro, with plenty of food options nearby. We also really appreciated having a laundromat a short walk away. We can’t wait to return. Castello di Sangro is a lovely town, but Hotel Il Tiglio is on a busy street, quite far from restaurants and other attractions. The hotel took my money through Expedia for a room but didn’t give me anywhere to sleep. Check-in is limited to 1500-2000, which seemed unusual. I was held up on the highway and couldn’t arrive by 8 pm. They wouldn’t make any other arrangement for check-in. I got there just under an hour after the cutoff and found the doors locked. I managed to find a room at another very nice hotel, Ristorante Bar Albergo Corradetti; Via Riviera, 1, 67031 Castel di Sangro AQ, which I highly recommend.
