Antica Locanda Il Sole

Being a few kilometers from central Bologna, yet surrounded by greenery, made this a great find. I was there in October and really enjoyed the stay. The room was spacious and spotless, and the radiators were on, so it felt comfortable. Mrs. Monica was lovely and made me feel at ease.

The staff were friendly and very kind, and the hotel itself was well kept, clean and comfortable, with nice rooms. Breakfast was decent too, though I would have liked some fruit. I thought the price was a bit high.

On the way back from Rome, we stopped here for a fixed-price lunch on the Camino. The food was acceptable but nothing memorable. The restaurant has a rustic feel, with big rooms and high ceilings, and it also operates as a hotel. I wasn't keen on the dessert, which seemed to be some kind of foamy cream, though I'm not much of a dessert person, so maybe that's on me 🙃. This is a review of the first course.

It's a comfortable, clean and quiet spot surrounded by greenery, with incredibly friendly staff. Getting to Bologna's center isn't the easiest, especially without a car, but it's a nice escape from the city's bustle.
