Tenute Plaia Agriturismo

The village is a short walk up the hill, and friends who drove had a safe place to park at the property. We loved starting the day with a swim in the pool and those beautiful views. The rooms were spacious and very comfortable, with great air conditioning, rain showers and lots of thoughtful little touches. The team was friendly and took great care of us at breakfast and whenever we needed anything. We had everything we needed for a wonderful trip to Scopello and can’t wait to return.

The owner was always ready to help and explain things, and parking was spacious. It’s also close to the coast. The surroundings are marvelous, the service was spot on, and the food, made with local ingredients, was more than excellent. The wine produced at the agriturismo was exceptional. A place that’s hard to forget.

Breakfast is served on a lovely terrace from 8 to 10, with homemade pastries, fruit, cereal, bread and coffee prepared by the staff. Everyone working there was lovely. Our apartment was clean, modern and felt safe, but the kitchenette was missing basics for cooking, including oil and knives. We’d booked an apartment so we could make meals. We also had to sort and take out four kinds of rubbish at checkout or pay €50, which was a hassle with an early flight. The apartment is about 500m from the main building, where the pool, breakfast restaurant and reception are. It’s very close to Scopello’s town square and just 30 seconds from great gelato at Isonzo Cinque. The square stays lively and loud until late, 1am one night, so bring earplugs.

Our studio was in a separate building in the village center, which made it easy to have dinner somewhere different each night. It was a spacious stone house with an inside staircase up to the bedroom, and it was clean and tidy. The stairs make it unsuitable for small children, though it works well for two people. There’s free, secure and convenient parking at the studios. The room was quite dark, with too few windows and only a tiny one in the door. Music from nearby places went on until 1am every other night. We also had to pay extra to have towels changed, which we’ve never encountered at another hotel. Even once during the week, or leaving extra towels ahead of time, would have met this basic need. We were surprised to learn we had to take the rubbish to the main hotel, and leaving any in the studio meant a fee. Bins in the parking area would make this much easier for guests.
