Towers Hotel Stabiae Sorrento Coast

The beach was very clean, and the location is great if you’re driving. But the hotel didn’t seem well managed. Breakfast had little variety and poor quality, the air conditioning switched itself on at 16C, the room cleaning was careless, and the bathroom needed renovating. We only found out about the 6 euros per night parking charge at checkout. When we asked, we were rudely told we should have read the website. This doesn’t feel like a 4 star hotel.

The staff were all friendly, and Mr. Micheal gave me a warm welcome when I checked in. The location is good, probably better to visit in summer. Only issue was the WiFi had no signal.

We loved our 3 nights at the Towers Hotel. The coastal setting is beautiful, it’s easy to find and conveniently located, and all the staff were friendly and helpful. It’s also great value. We ate in the restaurant every night, where the food and service were excellent and the prices reasonable. Antonella checked us in and surprised us with an upgrade to a big suite overlooking Vesuvius and the bay of Napoli. Cristina handled checkout, and both were polite, professional and helpful. Nello the bartender is a fun guy who makes an excellent drink. He’s a real Napoli boy! The breakfast buffet was good quality, with fresh eggs, bacon, potatoes, cold meats, cereals, fruit, juices and lots of pastries. It wasn’t huge, but there was plenty to eat, and the coffee was hearty. The morning manager and her team were friendly and smiling, and she speaks with a nice English accent. The hotel’s large terraces are a great spot for coffee or cocktails with a direct view of Vesuvius. Really, the whole hotel has a good view of the volcano. You can use the hotel as a base for Napoli, Sorrento, the Amalfi coast and Capri, but start early. The shuttle to the nearby train station in Vico Equense makes getting to Sorrento easy and affordable. It saved us a ton of money compared with staying there. Remember this is the Amalfi coast, so prices rise as you get closer to Sorrento and Amalfi. Towers seems like the closest good value hotel near the area, while closer options are smaller boutique hotels that charge more. There are Jet2Holidays clients here, so it must be good value for money.

We had a reservation through Booking.com (13767469582006482883, and 522707331), but border delays between Montenegro and Albania caused us to miss our ferry and change our route. Two days before check-in, we told the hotel what had happened and asked to cancel so we could book different dates. They refused and charged the full amount. We decided to arrive a week later and hoped to agree on a discount, since we had already paid for two nights we couldn’t use. Instead, they quoted us a new price that was even higher than the rate then listed on Booking.com. During an already stressful situation, we felt unsupported and taken advantage of. Charging for nights we couldn’t use, refusing to reschedule, and then asking for a higher rate felt unacceptable and more like extortion than hospitality. We hope the hotel takes appropriate action and treats future guests with more empathy.
