The pizza was the surprise for me. I’m not usually a pizza fan, but the one they suggested was the best I’ve ever had, with a freshness and flavor I haven’t found anywhere else. We’d come across agriturismo Feudo tudia by chance and were so glad we did. Akessandra and her family welcomed us warmly, and the place was gorgeous. Our newly renovated room was huge, with a king bed and a beautiful bathroom, and the details were beyond what I expected. I highly recommend it for a memorable stay.

The old property has been restored beautifully and there’s lots to explore. Our room was clean and lovely, with a high ceiling and a really cozy feel. The staff were kind, and the cooking uses local ingredients. There are dogs around that you can pet, too. Days by the pool are quiet, then everyone comes together in the evening for conversation, food and plenty of wine.

We’d definitely come back. The place has a lovely family atmosphere and sits in the middle of beautiful scenery. The best part was la cena di Rosario, with delicious pasta, antipasti and wine.

The staff are so kind and helpful. It’s a really quiet, peaceful place where you can take a walk, swim in the pool, or just sit back and enjoy the view. A good spot to switch off for a while and focus on yourself and your mental health.

We had such a wonderful, blessed stay, and my wife and I hope to have many more of those ‘fat sleeps’ here in the years ahead, with family and friends. The bed and pillows were exceptional. Our room had thick walls and a very high ceiling, so the air conditioning hardly had to work to cool it down. The food was some of the best I’ve had in Italy or its islands. Nothing fancy, just wholesome local fare from the kitchen and the separate pizza oven, each with its own chef. The staff were warm and accommodating, and still found time for a chat or a smile when they were busy. The owners were genuinely interesting and told us about plans to keep developing Feudo Tudia, though it already feels pretty much perfect. There’s plenty for adventurous kids to explore. The pool among the trees was lovely and cool, and there was a trampoline, zip line, swing and other children’s things. At twelve, I’d have been most excited by the surrounding fields, hills and miles of places to roam. We drove from Catania and first saw a ruined church and battered buildings at the entrance. I knew there had to be more, and there was. Through the entrance under the arch marked “1843” is an elegant courtyard, with flowers and creepers along the walls and doors and windows on three sides. Behind them are the reception, kitchen, main function hall, some rooms and the vast winery. There’s also a pizza oven room off reception. I spent days hiking the roads above the farm. Locals waved and tootled their car horns as they passed. The walks smelled of wild plants, especially sweet fennel, and European bee eaters flocked around, chirping. Cicadas rasped nearby and in the distance, while crickets sang at night. Thank you to everyone who looked after us so well.
