The packed lunch made from our leftovers was such a lovely touch for the next day’s ride. My partner and I also loved hearing Paola’s fascinating stories about the place and its history, and the wine made at Le Grotte Di Sileno was amazing. We were on a Puglian cycling tour and this was our second stop, so we weren’t sure what to expect. The bright, spacious, comfortable accommodation was great, but the food, wine, and the two hostesses, both named Paola, made it special. The antipasti spread was the best we’ve ever had. We’d happily make a special detour to stay at Le Grotte Di Sileno.

Paola 2 showed us the archaeological finds made on the land over the years and talked about their history, along with the thousand-year-old olive trees, caper plants, date trees, and carob trees. She was so warm and interesting to talk to. Paola 1 made an incredible dinner with good local organic wine and their own organic olive oil, which had a lovely floral taste. Breakfast was great too, especially the cheesy scrambled eggs, and they packed us a lunch as well. The accommodation was relaxing and to a high standard. It was a stay we’ll never forget ❤️
