Castellaro Golf Resort

The room was spacious and well furnished, with a large, comfortable bed and an outdoor terrace. There was parking, and breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice. The receptionist and the other person at reception did a great job, though the restaurant staff seemed a little lost. There’s also a pool, a golf course very close by, and lots of hiking options. Getting there is difficult because the road is in poor condition. It’s a four-star hotel, but it feels past its best and needs a lot of things renovated or replaced. Still, you can see that people are making an effort with cleaning and maintenance.

Getting around to nearby places was easy, and we liked the location, but the large property has lots of steps and no ramp for luggage. I don’t think it works well for people with limited mobility. Our apartment was dirty, especially the floor, and there was no soap, shampoo, or service. There were three of us, but we got one double bed and a folding bed that was too small and uncomfortable. The pool was very dirty, with sand, stones, and other objects making it hard to see underwater. Most staff spoke only Italian, so communicating in other languages was difficult. The equipment, staff, and services all need improvement.

Bring earplugs. The hotel was extremely noisy everywhere. It was empty when I arrived, then a big group came and the kids were allowed to run around. The buffet was very good, the bed was comfortable, and the staff were helpful. One male front desk staff member kept me waiting while he focused on phone calls and his computer. The road up the mountain to the hotel is dangerous.

The heated pool and comfortable rooms were nice, and the location is beautiful. We were assigned a double bed instead of the two single beds we’d expected. Even so, it was a very nice stay and I’d recommend the place.
