Hotel Pinei Nature & Spirit

We stayed at Hotel Pinei for three years in a row. The first visit was excellent, with spotless rooms, great service, and very good food. Since then, the experience has gone downhill significantly. On our second stay, a staff member in the spa area aggressively told us to leave a “naked zone.” We understood that we might have entered without knowing the rules, but the way it was handled felt unnecessarily violent. The staff member spoke only German, which we don’t understand. We let it go at the time, but after we got home we realized that something we’d forgotten in the room had never been returned, most likely taken by the cleaning staff. We returned this year mainly for the quiet location and spacious, beautiful rooms, despite reception seeming rather rigid. This visit was worse than ever. Our whole family came down with severe gastroenteritis. At first we thought it might be unrelated, but after talking with other guests we found many families were sick and stuck in their rooms for days too. We told the hotel and were told it was a “seasonal virus.” They also admitted that some staff members were sick but still working. We saw ambulances and guests vomiting in front of the hotel. With so many guests coming through, the most basic safety step should be sending sick staff home instead of having them handle food and dishes or clean rooms. At checkout, we also found we’d been charged €2 for each cup of hot water we asked for to make tea while we were ill. The water was heated from the tap using the coffee machine. All three of us were sick, so we paid several times for something that should have been a simple gesture of care and support. We know things can happen in a busy tourist season, but hygiene and guest safety have to come first. This year was extremely disappointing, and we can no longer recommend Hotel Pinei.

The hotel is in a quiet spot, 5 km from Ortisei. The food and spa facilities were great. Greetings to all the Romanian employees.

I had one of my best meditation sessions here at night. It was so quiet, and the temperature was just right on 9/05/2025. I really felt surrounded by nature. My room was lovely, close to the outdoors, and the bath with a view was amazing. The view from the room and outside was hard to describe. The room amenities were nice, especially the body lotion, and the shower was great. The bed was a little small, but manageable, and I slept well. Breakfast was wonderful. I loved everything on the buffet, including the morning Champagne, good bread, cheese and cold cuts, and good coffee. At the restaurant window, a cup of coffee and a pastry with the mist over the green hill outside made the place feel like a daydream, except it was real. ❤️

I didn’t stay at the hotel, but I had a bad experience with a reservation. I booked a room for a stay four months later with free cancellation, and paid the requested €100 deposit. My trip plans changed and I switched to another city. When I cancelled and asked for the deposit back, they refunded only €50. I understand a €25 transaction fee, but where did the other €25 go? If the hotel isn’t willing to return the full deposit, why ask for it in the first place? There are other ways to reserve a room. I won’t consider staying here on any future trip to Italy. 👎
