Hotel Rosa Eco Alpine Spa Resort

We’ve already stayed at Hotel Rosa twice, and we’re looking forward to returning. It’s become a home away from home for us. The food is a big part of why we love it. Dinner, served in such beautiful surroundings, was a treat, with wonderful flavor combinations and elegant presentation. The staff were genuinely friendly and attentive to little details that made us comfortable. The hotel and rooms were impeccably clean, and the spa was a peaceful spot to recover after a busy day. From arrival to departure, we felt completely at ease.

The setting is the big draw: Hotel Rosa is high up, with open views across mountains, clouds, and rolling grassy hills. It also has access for driving up the mountain, which is restricted for most visitors, so it worked especially well for us when we wanted to make several trips. We found the staff polite and helpful. Our room was ready early, and when we left they gave us a box of chocolates. The rooms are spacious and elegant, with large balconies in many cases; ours had a big bathtub with water jets as well as a shower. Breakfast and dinner are included, with a wide choice of seafood, meat, and cheese. Breakfast felt fairly standard for a five-star hotel. There’s plenty of secure covered parking included in the price. The facilities include indoor and outdoor pools with mountain views, a volleyball net, dry and steam saunas, and a spa with massage chairs and snacks. There’s also a wine room, with a piano room opposite. As American travelers, we found it one of the most relaxing hotels we’ve stayed in, and we’d come back someday.

The two staff members who stood out were the bartender and the tall restaurant waiter. Both were attentive and helpful. The waiter even remembered the name of the child at the next table and asked how he was doing. That was a lovely moment. The rest left us disappointed, especially for the amount we paid. It had the appearance of a five-star place, but the experience felt far below that, and we wouldn’t return. Our room was dated and awkwardly laid out, with a large modern pullout sofa that didn’t suit the small Austrian-style room. Finding it meant walking through dark, unmarked corridors that felt confusing and a bit scary to me; the motion sensors didn’t work well. The spa was very small and crowded with furniture, and the outdoor pool looked over a busy road. There were no private lockers in the ski room. The bar was very dark, and the interior seemed to tick boxes without making the place feel welcoming. The buffet dinner was reasonable, at least.

We had a fantastic mountain view and enjoyed six nights of excellent food, with something great served every evening. The hotel was relaxing, and the staff were friendly, especially Karolina and Barbara.
