The breakfast had a fantastic range, with fresh produce from the region, and we’ll definitely be back. We were a family of six staying for five nights, and we loved the hotel. Our rooms were spacious and very clean, with spectacular views. The spa was a real treat, with three sauna cabins and a hamam, as was the heated outdoor pool. Everyone working there, from reception and cleaning staff to the waiters, was friendly and helped make the stay amazing.

Waking up to the mountains around Alpe de Suisi was the highlight for my wife and me. Sonus Alpis is just outside Castelrotto, in a very quiet spot, and the staff were great at breakfast and dinner. I’d book dinner too, since both the service and food quality were top notch. The pool, sauna, and relaxation spaces had a five-star feel without the crowds or high prices. We had a really pleasant stay and would definitely recommend it.

After skiing, the pool and sauna were just what we needed, and the views were amazing. We had a wonderful time at Sonus Alpis. The food was incredible, and the staff were always friendly and helpful. We’ll definitely come back for some summer hiking.

Update: The hotel’s reply only reinforces my concern about its lack of professional standards. The issue is simple: should management make sure staff know to check for danger after an accident, or, as the reply suggests, should the guest have to “lend a hand”? I politely asked for a new glass at the time. I’m not complaining about the individual waiter. My concern is that I had to step in to protect my own safety. The accident itself isn’t my complaint. As the hotel said, everyone makes mistakes. What matters is how they’re handled. My review is about poor management and inadequate staff training for incidents like this. A casual approach might be expected at a casual B&B, but a well-known “lifestyle” hotel that promotes exceptional service shouldn’t expect guests to “lend a hand” or teach staff basic safety procedures in a dangerous situation. Broken glass left in a guest’s drinking water is a serious safety risk, not just a “mishap” that calls for empathy. Management’s decision to blame the guest instead of acknowledging the gap in safety training is why I felt I had to share this publicly. Future guests can judge the service standard from this exchange. Original review: The location and views are great, and the place has an “Instagrammable” feel. Guests get free parking. But the service doesn’t match the price or the online reviews. There were serious housekeeping and safety lapses, as shown in the photos: staff left our room door open after cleaning, and dirty cleaning cloths were left on our personal items. At dinner, a waiter dropped a knife while clearing our table. It hit a wine glass and shattered it, sending pieces everywhere, including into my water glass. He silently took away the broken wine glass without apologizing. When he came back to clean the table and bring another wine, he left the water glass full of broken pieces there. He only replaced it after we asked directly. If I hadn’t checked before drinking, the consequences could have been disastrous. For a “lifestyle” hotel, staff training seems insufficient. The lack of basic hospitality and attention to safety makes it hard to recommend. We expected more, and this experience fell well below the standard of other hotels in the Dolomites area.

My wife and I came to Sonus Alpis for her 40th birthday, and we’ll definitely be back. We’ve stayed in plenty of high-end places, but the way this one is run and the hospitality are on another level. Florian made our evenings at the bar. He’s great at what he does and such a kind, caring person, always attentive to the details. He made us feel like the only guests there. Whether you’re after a well-made cocktail or a good chat, Florian is the man. The breakfast was absolutely to die for, with a great range and top-tier regional products. The spas were spotless and peaceful, and made it easy to switch off. The pool was “bonkers nice,” too. Floating in the heated water with those jaw-dropping mountain views is something I won’t forget. For fellow Americans visiting, this is a special, tranquil place where the staff treat you like family. Please bring the same kindness, gentleness, and respect with you. Being a “good human” goes a long way here, and the staff deserve that for all their hard work.
