Sporthotel Sonne

This hotel sits right on the ski slopes, with a tempting balcony overlooking the view and a restaurant, but the customer service was poor. We got there around 11:30, ordered drinks after a wait, then watched other tables get seated and served food while we were repeatedly ignored. We asked staff at least seven times to take our order. They said someone would come over, then left us waiting. After more than an hour of our ski day went by without being served, we left. The staff were either inattentive or downright rude.

We didn’t stay at the hotel, just visited the café. While we were inside, our children were playing in the snow nearby. An employee politely asked us to keep them careful because there’s a closed swimming pool close by. We spoke to the children straight away and told them to stay away from the pool, so we thought that was settled. A while later, another person came out, called himself the “boss,” and very unfriendly told us this was private property and the children had to leave the hotel grounds immediately. I calmly said that this contradicted what the first employee had told us, but he ignored me completely. The “boss” came across as rude and not at all customer-oriented. It felt less like a safety concern and more like he was trying to assert authority. Even without staying there, this treatment left a very unpleasant impression. With management behaving like that, I’d be surprised if the hotel gets good reviews.

We only went to the restaurant, not the hotel. It was under 70% full and had four waiters, yet it took around 15 minutes for anyone to take our order. We raised our hands several times, but each staff member who passed seemed busy enough not to notice us. We only had drinks. Most were okay, but the Apfelschorle had no taste.

The food was delicious, and the whole place has a stylish, cozy feel with lots of character. Everyone was friendly and welcoming, too. Sporthotel Sonne is surrounded by stunning views, like being inside a postcard. I loved my time there and would love to come back.
