Agriturismo Il Poderuccio

Our stay at Poderrucio Farmhouse was the best part of our trip to Italy. The hosts were incredibly caring and gracious, going out of their way to meet our needs. The valley views were stunning, and the rooms and kitchen had everything we needed. It's close to everything, and we can't wait to return!

The area is peaceful and picturesque, but several things made our stay disappointing. We saw mold on the bathroom ceiling and walls. Breakfast, which cost extra, also fell short of what we expected. The cheese and ham were like supermarket products, not what we'd expect from a place presented as agritourism. What stayed with us most was the dogs' situation. From what we saw, a mother dog, a male dog, and puppies were kept in separate concrete enclosures. There was a lot of waste in the enclosures and the water was dirty. The dogs seemed isolated and eager for human contact. The mother had only three legs and was kept apart from her puppies. We raised our concerns after the visit but didn't receive a meaningful response. We're writing this because we believe animals deserve care and attention. If you stay here, please take a moment to notice the animals' conditions. They can't speak, but we can.

The property sits on a large plot in a beautiful area, but we left disappointed for several reasons. There was visible mold on the bathroom ceiling and walls. Breakfast was charged separately and didn't meet our expectations. In my subjective opinion, the cheese, ham, and other products were very low quality for somewhere advertised as an agriturismo. Our biggest concern was the dogs' living conditions, based on what we saw. An adult male dog, a female dog, and puppies were kept in separate concrete enclosures, with only the puppies together. As we documented, there were many droppings that hadn't been cleaned up and dirty water. The most heartbreaking sight was the three-legged female dog, alone and separated from her puppies. She appeared sad. I'm not a specialist, and this is just what I observed on site, along with my personal impressions and photos. Before posting, I contacted the owner and shared my concerns about the dogs. I received no response that showed a willingness to listen or improve their conditions. My wife and I have stayed at many agriturismos in Italy. At most of them, the dogs could roam in fenced areas or had appropriate space and large designated runs. I hope these remarks will be taken seriously and that things improve for the dogs. Animals deserve dignified conditions, respect, and care. If you visit, please take a moment to observe the situation. Awareness can make a difference. They have no voice, but we can speak up for them. The farmhouse setting was a hit with our toddler, who loved spending time with the rabbits and cats. Fabiana made us a wonderful breakfast and even helped arrange dinner at a great restaurant. We stayed in the two-bedroom apartment, which was clean, roomy, and had lovely views. We had a great time there.
