Casa del Capitano Rocca d'Orcia

The setting is magnificent, but the management was horrible. When we came back from lunch with my friends, we found people walking around and opening room doors, apparently looking for valuables. I said something and the men left. Reception just said, “Oh yes, sorry,” and took no action. They also refused to let me use the cameras to find out what had happened and file a complaint. A woman answered half-heartedly and acted as if she didn’t understand. The lack of reviews should have made us suspicious. For this price, no thanks. I even got the impression there might be some arrangement involving the owner, though I can’t be sure. Beware of scams. Avoid this place!

The staff were very impolite and unprofessional. The venue was fully rented for a wedding, and we didn’t feel welcome. They shouldn’t agree to host weddings if they can’t handle a little celebration.

We spent one night at Rocca d'Orcia and had a wonderful time. The rooms were bright and spacious, and the four of us, two adults and two children, were very comfortable. You fall asleep in a charming little village and wake up to a 360-degree view of the Val d'Orcia. The owners were very kind and recommended "Rocca D'Orcia Grill", just a few steps away in the heart of the village. We ate and drank deliciously there. It’s definitely worth coming back to explore more of the area’s wonders, all easily reached from the Rocca.

The views are breathtaking, and the setting feels straight out of a movie. The staff were wonderful, especially Elisa, who was incredibly efficient. Getting around by car takes some planning in this medieval village. Paid parking is 250 meters away and charged every two hours; free parking is 500 meters away. If you’re on a motorcycle, it’s best to park before arriving and walk, or contact the property for a pickup. The steep slopes and rocky pavement make parking and maneuvering a motorcycle really difficult.
