The layout gives you a surprising amount of privacy for a campsite, which is priceless. We loved being under the trees with such a short walk to the beach, and the private beach was really cool. The two-person cabin was comfortable and private, with what we needed, and there were enough accommodation choices at fair prices. It could have been cleaner in the corners and behind the doors, though it was still cleaner than the more expensive B&B rooms we stayed in on this road trip. The market covered the basics, and the staff were friendly and helpful. For a simple stay, it was hard to beat.
I expected to stay a couple of days, but left after just one night. The location is close to the beach, but at this price I wouldn’t recommend it. The bathrooms were disgusting and almost unusable: the toilet is inside the shower stall, there’s no toilet paper or soap, and nowhere to put your things. Everything, including the toilet seat, stays wet, and the toilet leaves so little room that showering is difficult. The parking spaces weren’t large enough to sit beside or in front of our camper. My pitch was near the restaurant, where staff clattered cutlery loudly at 11 or 12 at night and kept waking the baby. It was loud at night in general.
Bring your own blankets, because the ones provided were a bit dirty and thin. Apart from that, it was a fun stay and I’ll be back. The restaurant was really good, the staff were nice, and the bathrooms were clean and spacious.
We ate well at the restaurant, and there were plenty of pastries at the Bar in the morning. The caravan pitches sit tastefully among trees and bushes, giving you privacy, while paths through the greenery make the layout pleasant. The shared facilities, bars, and restaurants are thoughtfully arranged and wheelchair accessible. Beach access was easy, and the showers there, including the foot washes, were great. The campsite is well maintained, and it’s clear they keep investing in it. We’ll probably come back and try a cottage or country tent. We’ll recommend it to our friends.
The campsite’s response to one-star reviews is poor and ridiculous. Like many businesses, it seems to blame the customer, guest, or visitor instead of taking responsibility. To me, that’s bad business practice, not just a holiday mistake. So, potential visitors, read the reviews carefully and think twice before booking. This was the worst campsite I’ve ever visited. Maybe some people like the sheltered private pitches, but you have to love mosquitoes: we couldn’t sit outside the tent for a second without getting eaten alive, and after a shower we needed another one in repellent. The showers and toilets were filthy and badly maintained. There’s little to do nearby beyond one small town, and the beach was a joke. You can’t sit right next to it because it’s a paid private beach; you have to pay or walk a fair distance to find a spot where towels are allowed. When we paid to use the private beach, we accidentally took a lounger that was reserved and were sent away rudely, almost hostily. The lifeguard had been gone for over 1.5 hours, so we couldn’t ask him beforehand. When we asked how we were supposed to know, he said, “Because I’m telling you now.” The manager then told us to walk 20 minutes to reception to ask if that particular lounger was available. You won’t miss much by choosing another campsite, except perhaps the dirty bathrooms, mosquitoes, and rude staff.
