B&B Minerva

Castro is lovely and well placed for visiting other towns and beaches. The owner, Annalisa, helped us find nearby sights and excellent restaurants at reasonable prices. Her breakfasts were delicious, with homemade cakes made from local products. Our room and bathroom were spotless and had everything we needed, including a mini-fridge and toiletries. We had a wonderful vacation and would gladly repeat it. Highly recommended.

Anna Lisa has been so attentive to us that I had to make an exception to my usual rule of writing reviews after each stay. The homemade cakes she makes are a real treat, and breakfast has plenty of sweet and savory choices. She’s also happy to accommodate requests and offers lots of suggestions for places to visit or eat. B&B Minerva is in a quiet but not isolated spot, just steps from Castro’s historic center, about a 5-minute walk. There’s no private parking, but street parking is convenient, and a public lot is around 150 meters away. The room and bathroom were spotless, and the room has a balcony with a drying rack and air conditioning. A train stop a few meters from B&B Minerva goes straight to Casto Marina, so you can skip the car and the hassle of parking.

The terrace where breakfast is served is lovely, and the B&B is in Castro’s upper historic center, very close to the sea. A two-minute drive gets you to the clear water at Castro Marina for a dreamy swim. The rooms are spotless, and when we arrived at 11:30 PM we were welcomed right away without any trouble. We also asked to stay in our room for the whole morning, and the lady agreed immediately, with kindness and professionalism. Recommended for a short stay. The one downside was the view: I’d hoped to see the sea, but the back balcony faces other houses that are very close, as is typical of Puglia.

Annalisa knows a lot about local sights, and her desserts at breakfast were especially good. The place is clean and well maintained, with spacious air-conditioned rooms and a comfortable shared terrace that has a drying rack. Convenient parking is available on the street. I’d be happy to come back.
