That cold stretch of the Via Normanna left us tired and soaked, and we were counting on warmth, somewhere to dry our clothes and shoes, and a hot shower. The heating and water heater only started up when we arrived. It took about half an hour before there was enough water for one shower, and even then it was colder than expected. My partner had to wait until after dinner. I'd look at reviews from other seasons before booking. I wouldn't choose this place in cold weather. One more thing: the electric towel warmer was leaking. I got an electric shock from it, and being barefoot in the bathroom made that especially worrying.

The bathroom was a problem for me, with barely enough room between the toilet and the wall, and the B&B itself didn't feel suitable. Even getting there with suitcases was difficult. Breakfast was supposedly included, but I found only packaged food and something already opened in the fridge. Castroreale is a charming village, though it has no amenities. I left with a bad impression.

The rooms are simple, with original furnishings, and the setting is the real draw. From this spot in Castroreale you can see the Aeolian Islands as well as the valley stretching toward Rodì-Milici. Highly recommended.

I stayed here in 2018 as well, and still find both the B&B and the town charming. There's a lovely terrace and a wonderful view of the islands, and we were welcomed perfectly. People who call it uncomfortable have it wrong. If you need to park your car right outside the door, stay in the city instead. It's a beautiful place if you know how to appreciate it.

The room was comfortable, and guests can use a full kitchen and living room. From here you can explore Castroreale on foot and enjoy fantastic views and the quiet, which is great for relaxing. It feels like home, and staying here makes you feel like a local.
