B&B Il Caravaggio

The decor is wildly over the top, like rococo turned up several notches. I stayed in room 3, where the private bathroom was down the hall. Only I had a key, so it was still better than a shared bathroom, though having it outside the room felt strange. The hotel is in a quiet block, around a 30-minute walk from the main sights. When you enter from the street, take the lift in the white column straight ahead, not the stairs. The woman who handled check-in was very helpful when my flight delay made me arrive late. I didn't see much of the other staff apart from the daytime cleaners.

There are plenty of places to eat and drink nearby, in a nice neighborhood away from the usual tourist areas. It's a great spot, but the bed wasn't very good and left me with some back pain. The bathroom also had a bit of a funky smell.

The room had everything I needed to prepare food for myself, and the air conditioning worked really well. The place is lovely and cozy, and close to the center, with some beaches and historic buildings easy to reach on foot. The host spoke little English, but she was so kind and friendly that we managed to communicate just fine. I'd highly recommend it.

We enjoyed our two days here. The street got a little noisy at night, but we still had a good time. The house is beautiful and very clean throughout. Some of the furniture is worn, though it's in good condition, and the bed was comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast came with toast, jam, croissants, coffee and fresh fruit juice.
