Palazzo Cerami

Breakfast is brought to your room, and the portions are so generous that finishing everything seems impossible. Fresh towels came each day, and WiFi, a TV, and the usual amenities were included. The few rooms are beautifully decorated and spotless. This lovely B&B is tucked into a quiet part of central Catania, just steps from Via Etnea and Piazza Stesicoro. If you're arriving by car rather than taxi while the traffic-free zone is active, contact the B&B ahead of time to arrange access, especially if you have luggage.

The breakfast each morning, served whenever we wanted, was the highlight: beautiful presentation and delicious flavors. We stayed three nights as four people across three rooms, which gave us plenty of time to talk with Giuseppe. He's a delightful gentleman who clearly loves Catania and Sicilia, and we left feeling a friendship had begun. The rooms at Palazzo Cerami were spacious and comfortable, and the quiet made it easy to sleep well. We arrived late in the fall from Ortigia, and Giuseppe waited for us and helped with our luggage since there's no elevator. That wasn't a problem. Outside, there is graffiti and it can look a little dark, but give the location a chance. By morning you can see you're right in the middle of everything. I'd highly recommend staying here for a personal experience in Catania.

The breakfast was really good, and the room was clean, though the bathroom smelled bad. We also had neighbors from Russia shouting through the night. We contacted reception on WhatsApp, but they didn't manage to resolve it, so we slept terribly. The bigger problem was getting a different room from the one we booked. They acknowledged the change and said it was an upgrade, but we'd chosen that particular room for its walk-out balcony, where we planned to have breakfast and enjoy the view. Instead, our balcony was enclosed, with the AC unit there, so we couldn't step out. It seemed they'd given our room to other guests. Had we known we wouldn't get the selected room, we wouldn't have booked this place.

The next morning, breakfast even arrived a few minutes ahead of schedule. Guiseppe also moved us to a better room and gave us useful suggestions for restaurants, bars, and things worth seeing. He really went out of his way to make our stay a good one. Highly recommended, and I'd definitely stay here again when I return to Catania.
