Bed and Breakfast Università

The rooms were nice and clean, and we found the location good. We were four people sharing two rooms for five days. The airport shuttle driver was flexible when our flight was delayed, which we appreciated. There were problems with the cleaning schedule. On the first day, the cleaner knocked very forcefully at 10 AM and woke us in both rooms, even though we were still sleeping. We explained that, but were told cleaning only happened at 10:30 AM. No other option was offered, so guests should know the cleaning hours aren't flexible. Breakfast was at a nearby local cafe and consisted only of sweets, croissants or brioche. One friend is gluten intolerant and another had stomach issues, but despite asking, neither was offered an alternative. It was upsetting to be told we were the only ones who didn't appreciate the delightful Sicilian breakfast. After those two conversations, the owner contacted one of our friends, accused one of us of causing too many problems and even said we had "mental problems." Then our Booking.com reservation was canceled as a no-show. We thought we had been kicked out and needed to find somewhere else to stay. When we contacted the owner, we were told we could still stay, but the booking had been canceled to avoid a negative review. We then spent a long time on the phone with Booking.com trying to avoid cancellation and no-show fees. The basics were provided, but it was a very unpleasant experience.

A terrible experience. We arrived with a confirmed room in the Booking.com app, but the host said there was nothing available. Our card had already been charged for the room. The person calling themself the host offered no help and took no steps to refund the charge, just told us to sort it out with Booking.com. They were rude and unhelpful, and didn't reply when I messaged to ask for our money back. Best to avoid this place.

Just don't do it. I woke up covered in 25 bites. I can't say whether they were bed bugs or mosquitoes, but I killed six mosquitoes and came back to find more. I messaged the person in charge to report it and sent pictures, yet they showed no concern. That was the scariest part. If you might have bed bugs, wouldn't you be worried? The people running this place don't seem to care about customer service or health and safety. I'm not even getting into the other problems. Spend the extra money.

The only good thing about this B&B is its location, with the historic center an easy walk away. The air and smell in the room and bathroom were terrible. It made it hard to breathe and left my eyes stinging. I definitely wouldn't recommend staying here.
