Beteya Hostel Don Bosco

I booked mainly because it was near the airport, but I’d come back. The private beach is nice and sandy, the room was perfect and very clean, and the menu for 25€ had proper food. The place has a nice feel and a good project with a multicultural team. Planes fly nearby, but it wasn’t as loud as I’d expected.

The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable, but the location is a bit odd. I paid €35 for a ride from the airport. I’d avoid taxis in Catania, they’re all cheaters, it’s crazy. There may be a shuttle for pickup and drop-off if you call the hotel, but nobody seems to know about it, so contact them directly.

We stayed for ten days and had an amazing time. The staff were really nice and made sure we were comfortable throughout, and being so close to the beach was a big plus. Without a car, the location can make you feel a bit like an outsider, but it wasn’t a major problem for us.

We spent two nights here with our family of seven. It’s a beachfront hotel on a spacious property, with room to relax and enjoy the surroundings. The rooms were clean, roomy and had what we needed. Housekeeping came daily, changed the towels and replaced the toiletries. We especially liked the outdoor seating area attached to the ground floor rooms. There’s free parking, and beach umbrellas and sunbeds are included too. For the price, it offers good value, though it isn’t a high-end hotel. The staff were very friendly and did their best to help with personal requests. Breakfast was an English-style buffet with a good range of options. The hotel sits almost at the end of Catania airport’s runway, so planes take off and land overhead during the day. At night there were only one or two planes all night. We enjoyed watching them fly over, an unexpected thrill for the family. We also liked the sustainable decorations, which gave the place a thoughtful, appealing touch. We were surprised to learn about the hotel’s mission. It was built as part of an initiative to promote legal use of assets seized from organized crime. Its multinational team includes former migrants with difficult pasts and young people with disabilities who are eager to grow and make a change. That social commitment and focus on sustainability added something meaningful to our stay. There’s also a large separate area for outdoor adventure activities that organizations and educational institutions can reserve. The in-house clothing shop is based on ethics, solidarity and sustainability. Shopping there supports those values and helps fund solidarity development initiatives across Africa.
