Deodato Guest House

On June 20, 2025, my family and I stayed at Deodato Guest House after booking through Hotels.com (Itinerary # 72061766617757). When we arrived, staff insulted us and acted aggressively in front of my wife and our two young children, aged 3 and a baby. We are all Finnish citizens, and the incident caused us serious distress and embarrassment. We had to leave straight away without using the service we’d booked and find somewhere else urgently. I wish I could give zero stars. We arrived late after a long drive, hoping for a quick check-in, and were met with hostility and verbal abuse. My toddler was terrified and crying, the baby was wailing, and the staff made sarcastic remarks and shouted orders. There was no apology or offer of help, only coldness and pointing fingers. Within minutes we had left with all our luggage. At midnight we booked Hotel Manganelli Palace for €189. After two Uber rides, we finally found a safe room and got a peaceful night’s sleep. The shouting, the effect on our children, and the extra cost of having to move made this a nightmare. Deodato Guest House isn’t worth one euro. Book anywhere else in Catania, and bring earplugs for the shouting.

An average stay. The shared facilities covered what we needed, and there was a washing machine. We paid an extra 4 Euro per night for air conditioning. There was no daily cleaning, especially in the common area, though overall things were reasonably clean. Two toilets for five bedrooms were enough. I’m not sure about the other rooms, but the door to the room I had wouldn’t lock, so I’d feel uneasy bringing valuables.

They cancelled my reservation on check-in day because of overbooking, leaving me stranded in a foreign country without any help. Completely irresponsible. I wouldn’t trust this place.

They cancelled a confirmed booking just hours before check-in. The management felt disorganized and careless with guests. That’s unacceptable and disrespectful, and places like this should be held accountable.
