Margherita Rooms

We only stayed one night, but the staff were friendly and helpful. The room came with two separate beds and all the toiletries we needed, plus a nice balcony with a partial view of Etna. Breakfast was included in the morning, and the location made it easy to walk into the centre.

The location is the only thing this place has going for it. Our room faced one of Catania's busiest streets and was extremely noisy, so we had to shut every window to get some sleep. This isn't really a hotel, just part of a building converted into rooms. Breakfast was almost nonexistent. Our tour guide had to buy bread, salami and cheese at a supermarket, and it was the same both days we stayed. If they weren't prepared on the first day, they could have made an effort for the next one, but they didn't. We were also told not to put toilet paper in the toilet, but in the trash. A big no from us for this so-called hotel.

The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, even letting us leave our bags there after checkout before our evening flight. Really grateful for that service and for two great nights. The room was simple, but clean and spacious, with lots of storage for clothes and other things. The AC wasn't very effective unless we set it to a pretty low temperature, but it did work in the end.

The location worked well, about a 15-minute walk to the central square, with buses nearby for getting to the central station. The room was very clean, the staff were nice, and the price was good value. The bed was hard, so don't book here if you prefer a soft one. Breakfast was disappointing: supermarket croissants and bread with jam and Nutella, but no cheese, meat or eggs. That'd be an easy thing to improve and earn another star.
