There are great local restaurants and a park just two minutes away, and we loved being in such a good spot in Catania. The room was clean and had a balcony. The communal kitchen has a stocked fridge with an honesty system. We'd definitely stay here again.

We paid 80 per night, and saving a few euros really wasn't worth it. Communication was awful. When we arrived, we couldn't find the place because it's so hidden, and the door was locked. There'd been no instructions before arrival, so we had to call for a while before someone sent us entry details. Getting inside felt like entering a car park, then we had to climb several flights of stairs while the lights kept switching off. There's no elevator. The room was tiny and nothing like the pictures. It was loud, the mattress was uncomfortable and very springy, and the place was dirty, with stains on the bedding and floors. The hosts were completely useless.

The location was good, near the main street and city centre, and I liked the cute kitchen, self service fridge for drinks and snacks, improvised lamps, and some of the furniture. But the accommodation was much older in person than we expected, and our room didn't look like the photos at all. It was just okay, not what we thought we'd booked. The shower was broken, and the bathroom was up a steep set of stairs on the second floor, which wasn't convenient for a nighttime visit. From what we could see, the other room was much nicer and had a walk in bathroom. Ours felt like it had just been photoshopped well.

The room was clean and nicely presented, and the hosts were very friendly. We had great weather and a really enjoyable time in Catania. The B&B is a handy base for city tours and shopping, and for getting to Mount Etna, the coast, and nearby towns and villages.
