New Rubik's Castle

We had a terrible stay and I'd look for somewhere else in Catania. There were no signs, staff, or even a waiting area, and nobody was available when we had questions. The host had told us to call if we needed anything, but didn't answer. The bed linen I found was very dirty, there was no shampoo or body wash, and the kitchen fridge was filthy and smelled bad. We had paid for breakfast, but got nothing in the morning.

We booked as a group directly with Giancarlo and paid for B&B, but there was no breakfast. Three of the rooms we'd booked weren't shown in the pictures and were a mess. The room I stayed in had no window, and parts of the kitchen window were missing. We had no running water for 20 hours, and I found hair in my bed. There was a horrible smell of mold, smoke, and dirt. When we brought it up, they said it was in our heads and claimed nobody smoked there, even though they were smoking right in front of us.

We were wary after reading the reviews, but we're here now at the Rubik's castle and are very happy with the place. The rooms are amazing, clean, and spacious, and the owner is a kind, nice chap. What were we expecting for that price, Buckingham Palace? Don't judge a book by its cover. We'll be back. Kate & Mike

The place was in horrible condition: no water, a power cut during the night, no breakfast, and no towels. They offered our group of 18 an extra apartment, but it smelled horrible. They wouldn't refund us when we asked. After we left, they also rented out the place to other visitors during the period we'd paid for.
