The pleasant grounds, good location and helpful, kind bar staff were bright spots, but this stay at Romano Palace fell well short of what I expect from a hotel advertised as five-star luxury. The price and the experience don’t match, and the standards need serious attention. Room 243 is a particular problem. It’s beside the hotel offices, and staff noise in the morning was loud enough to disturb our sleep and spoil the start of the day. The rooms also feel tired and dated, with peeling wallpaper and carpets that smell unpleasant. In the bathroom, the pedal bin’s foot pedal had snapped off and stuck out like a sharp nail, a real safety hazard housekeeping should have caught. Breakfast had a limited selection that wasn’t up to the level you’d expect from a five-star hotel. Reception told us in person that the hotel served international cuisine, but the restaurant menu was small and entirely local, with no international dishes. That was misleading. There’s also no bellboy service for a hotel of this size and rating, which makes the classification hard to understand. They didn’t have multi-plug adapters for international guests, so I had to charge my devices at the bar. The bar staff were helpful about it, but adapters seem like a basic provision for a hotel that welcomes international visitors. The hotel needs significant investment and more attention to standards before it can honestly claim luxury status.

It was quiet and a nice place to rest in the afternoon, close to the beach. The breakfast was fine with a good variety, and the bar and restaurant were good too. Behind the property there’s a lovely playground for children, plus a lake and forest trails for walking. I was there in winter on business, and it worked very well for me.

The beach is just a short walk away, so getting to the sea was easy without transport and added to the holiday feel. Breakfast was decent, with enough variety to start the day comfortably. Staff arranged an early-morning taxi for me, which I appreciated. Service was alright and reliable when I needed it, if not exceptional. I had a pleasant stay at Romano Luxury Hotel in Sicily.

The gardens are beautiful, the location is great, and breakfast was genuinely very good. The breakfast staff were the strongest part of the stay, attentive, friendly and professional. The property has real potential, which makes the weak service all the more disappointing. The rooms feel dated, cleanliness had noticeable shortcomings, and even basic requests were handled poorly or left unresolved. Overall, the service was far below what I expected of a five-star hotel. With the right level of care and service, this place could be something special, but as it stands, it doesn’t meet five-star standards.

The decor is a little odd, especially the doors and wallpaper, but the pool is absolutely beautiful and spotless. We also had a top-quality meal, and the wait staff were very warm.
