The room had air conditioning, a working bathroom fan, and a mini-fridge, and the owner was courteous and helpful. The price seemed fair for what was offered. The location is convenient enough, across from the Feltrinelli bookstore and not too far from the center. Alibus from the airport goes to Via Etnea, near the house. The rooms are in a shared apartment on what is called the second floor, but in this old building with high ceilings it feels more like a third floor, and there’s no elevator. The stairs are a downside, as are the worn furniture, bed, and mattress, which only seemed supported in the middle. The door and lock also need attention. Traffic noise still came through even with the windows and shutters closed.

The owner was friendly and attentive, and could be reached on WhatsApp or with a translator, though they speak Italian. It’s a quiet, safe neighborhood right on Via Etnea, close to everything and handy for seeing the city and surrounding area. The apartment has a large room, bathroom, working air conditioning, and refrigerator. Towels, liquid soap, shower gel, shampoo, and a good hairdryer were provided.

I picked this place in Catania after seeing the good reviews, but the room was damp and musty, with mold in the shower. I later noticed the duvet was moldy too, and there wasn’t a pillowcase. In reply to your comment: sir, the limescale and mold didn’t appear in four days 🫣 That points to months of poor cleaning and ventilation. If you knew there was a problem with the room, the leak you’ve only just mentioned, you should have contacted us earlier about switching rooms or canceling the booking.

The host was so friendly and gave us useful tips, always ready to help with any questions or concerns. The place had everything we needed, and the location was fantastic. We’d gladly stay here again next time we’re in Catania, and highly recommend it.
