Terrazza Santa Chiara

The terrace was lovely for relaxing or having breakfast, and the location worked really well for exploring Catania. Breakfast was delicious, though it starts at 8:30 AM, a bit late if you're hoping to get an early start. I have no idea where they get the yogurt, but it was the best I've ever had. The service felt welcoming and attentive, and they'd make coffee when you came upstairs to eat. It seems to be a beautiful family owned and run B&B, with high ceilings and roomy bedrooms and bathrooms. Our bathroom was private but outside the room, so we needed a key each time. The old doors and keys made those trips a little awkward, though I understand it's part of the vintage style. There are quite a lot of stairs to the room and more to reach the terrace and breakfast. I didn't mind, but they could be tough for someone with reduced mobility or difficulty managing old stairs. The quality for the price was hard to beat. I'd definitely stay again.

The staff were very kind and helped with questions about getting around Catania and taking excursions around Sicily. They even found gluten-free breakfast for me because I have a gluten allergy. The rooms were very clean, and the terraces looked out over Catania's main square and the cathedral, in an amazing location. Excellent service. I'll definitely come back.

Federica gave me good local recommendations, and I felt completely safe traveling here alone. My room was spacious, comfortable, and spotless. The price is great for such a central location. I had a separate private bathroom, which worked better than I expected, though I still prefer having it in the room. Since breakfast is served in the entrance, you may get woken when the first guests come down to eat.

The rooms were clean, but constant traffic made it very noisy. There's no lift, so you have to climb to the third floor and roof. The private bathroom is outside the room, which means there's no privacy at all. For the price, it really isn't worth it. Sorry guys, just being honest.
