Hice Room

Over the May 1st weekend, I stayed here with some friends, and we were very happy with the stay. The owner helped us find a solution that worked well for us. Shops with everything we needed were close by, and the location was excellent. Our rooms were spacious, clean, and had all the essentials. I'd definitely keep it in mind for another trip to Catanzaro Lido.

The location is genuinely excellent, close to the waterfront, Piazza Garibaldi for buses, the train station, and plenty of restaurants. With more care for guests and cleanliness, this could have been a perfect stay. Instead, the room and management were disappointing. On the day I arrived, I contacted the owner and was told he wasn't sure whether the room was available. He said they'd prepared a room at another property, which made it seem like my reservation had been mixed up or forgotten. He later reassured me that my room was available, but when I got there, it was the wrong one and didn't have the private kitchen I'd said I needed. The explanation I was given about a sudden emergency wasn't very credible. I had to eat out every night, which meant unexpected extra costs. I stayed five nights and the room was never cleaned. There was dust, mold by the bathroom window, and stains on the bedspread when I arrived. I didn't feel at ease at all. At checkout, I was asked to pay the full amount even though the service fell short of what we'd agreed. After I raised the issue, I got a €15 discount, but it didn't come close to covering the inconvenience and added expenses. I'm very disappointed.

The manager was kind and tried to help, but couldn't move me to another room. I'd booked through Booking.com and picked a room whose photos showed a sea view, but the room I got faced the other way, onto an alley. Be careful when choosing a room. Booking.com should show more clearly what each one actually looks like, perhaps with photos of the specific room. I stayed one night, and the cleanliness also fell short: there was a stain on the sheet.
