La Mortilla

We loved spending time by the pool, which is a lovely area where you could easily stay all day. The house and rooms are modern, clean, and individually styled. La Mortilla sits on top of a hill with far-reaching views, including the sea, and you can drive to the beach or nearby villages. Both hosts are charming and made us feel welcome from the start. We had several delicious breakfasts, lunches, and dinners, including wonderful four-course meals. The food was just what we hoped for from typical Sicilian cooking, and the homemade orange wine was tasty too.

Thank you, Francesca and Lorenzo, for making our honeymoon so special. Your B&B is one of a kind, in one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever visited, and I doubt we’ll find another to match it. You went above and beyond, sharing ideas for things to do and places to visit, and booking tables for us at some wonderful restaurants so we could get the best table possible. Francesca has made the house interior lovely and welcoming. It felt like coming home at the end of each day. Lorenzo’s Italian cooking was excellent, as good as anything we ate in restaurants, and he made sure we never went hungry. Watch out for all those dishes! 🤣 The wine they served is made on the property, and their white wine was as good as any we’ve had, without leaving us with a hangover the next morning. They kept us supplied with all the water and wine we could need. The rooms were spotless and the beds so comfortable. We felt like part of the family and were both sad to leave. La Mortilla was the highlight of our trip to Sicily. The accommodation has panoramic views in every direction, and the sunsets in the evening are beautiful. There’s so much care in the design, both inside and out. Francesca and Lorenzo are wonderful people, and their warmth is what makes the whole place feel complete and unique. We’ll definitely be back!

We booked at the last minute while in Sicily, after an unexpected change to our vacation, and it turned into a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The views are spectacular, and being surrounded by nature up on top of the world was special. Lorenzo and Francesca showed us wonderful hospitality and friendship. They deserve a five-star recommendation!
