The location worked well for getting to the slopes, and the hotel itself has lovely historic architecture inside and out. The room was clean and otherwise fine, though somehow we actually ran out of toilet paper. The bus station for the slopes is close by, but there are only a few parking spaces, nowhere near enough for the number of guests, and parking isn't free. The ski room wasn't ready for us. There was nowhere to dry our boots, so we left our skis in the hallway and brought the boots up to the room. The door was made of board, with gaps you could see through, and every sound carried straight into our room. For three nights, groups of three or four guests chatted loudly in the hallway from about 22:00 until 1-2 AM after drinking. Nobody from the hotel asked them to keep it down, even though they were keeping other guests awake. The room was also far too hot. The thermostat had been removed from the radiator, and although I asked staff to set it to 20C, they never did, so we had to leave the window open. Breakfast wasn't prepared for the number of guests. Vegetables were available on only two of our seven days. I asked for boiled eggs and got cold eggs from the fridge, then warmed eggs from the fridge the next time. Omelet came out one or two portions every 10 minutes. If you get up early, you also can't get coffee until the staff open the bar, maybe after 7AM. Dinner was just as badly handled. It started at 19.30 in a 30C room, with everyone sweating while we waited at least 30 minutes for starters. Even though they knew how many portions were needed for each course, I never finished dinner before 21:00. With respect to the employees, this was an awful stay. Avoid the hotel if you're a large group of skiers hoping to be first on the slopes. I've stayed in many places in Italy with large groups and never had such poor service.

Dinner came much too late for our big group, especially with children. Keeping my young kids fed and happy while we waited was a real challenge. When I raised the timing issue, the staff seemed uninterested and offered no solution or alternative. The room was unbearably hot, so sleeping or relaxing was difficult, and the reception staff were unfriendly and unhelpful. My stay at Excelsior was disappointing, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable, enjoyable stay.

We were right in the middle of town, about a 10-minute walk from the ski lift, with a shuttle bus just outside the hotel too. The staff were really friendly and helpful, and they were happy to work with our special dietary requests. Our family room was spacious and comfortable, and the hotel felt beautiful and cozy, with a lovely spa. It's family run, and I'd definitely recommend it.

Really nice, beautiful hotel, and the service is very good. The only thing missing from the room is air conditioning.
