Le Bucoliche

You’ll want a car, but compared with Salerno prices this place is hard to beat. It’s a peaceful, comfortable villa with three floors, kept clean and in good shape. There are two kitchens and two bathrooms, both clean and well equipped, plus a thoughtful welcome kit in the room and bathroom. No air conditioning, but the owners provided a fan that was more than enough. Breakfast was excellent, either on site or with a bar voucher. I’d definitely recommend it.

The shared kitchen was dirty, with coffee and cigarette rubbish left behind by previous guests. The rooms had ants, spiders, and mosquitoes, and there were no mosquito nets or air conditioning. The bathroom was dirty and badly in need of updating, with parts coming loose when we first went in. On the upper floors, hot water took a long time to arrive, the water flow was troublesome, and the electricity was unreliable. Two of the room’s three lights were out, and the circuit breaker tripped during our stay after one storm. There was no breakfast. The location also felt too isolated and hard to reach because of the steep climb and sharp curves. Animals roam nearby, so watch out for them on the road at night. I didn’t feel there was much safety for someone living alone. I wouldn’t recommend this accommodation to anyone.

The only shame is that they’re all Napoli fans!

A welcoming, pleasant place.
