Franciacorta Country Lodges

The room was very noisy, right at an intersection on a narrow, busy road. Cars and motorcycles could be heard all night, and even earplugs didn’t let us sleep. We paid too much for a relaxing holiday and got barely three hours of sleep. The living room sofa was extremely old and dirty, and not even fit to sit on. The late arrival fee was another major problem. It wasn’t listed in the hotel policy on Booking or the hotel’s own website, and no one contacted me beforehand to explain check-in or ask when we’d arrive. The only fee I found mentioned was €50 for cleaning, plus an extra bed for children. During our three days, our towels weren’t changed and the garbage bin wasn’t emptied, despite that cleaning charge. Because of unforeseen circumstances, I arrived late. The owner was extremely rude and impolite, and threatened that we wouldn’t be allowed to stay because we were delayed and were three girls. We were ready to call the police before they finally let us in. Otherwise, we would certainly have been sleeping on the street. At first, he said the receptionist had left and lived far away, so we had to pay for gas. We suggested leaving the key somewhere or going to her reception house so she wouldn’t have to wait overtime or make a long trip back. I have photos from our stay showing that she left the Lodges at 00.30. On Saturday, we were told they would take the sofa and two chairs from the terrace because they needed them for a wedding. We said no, since we wanted to drink our coffees there and couldn’t sit on the floor like animals. I don’t think a request like that is normal. The whole situation was unbelievable.

Really good value for money, with a great team and a lovely position between vineyards and castel.

We’ve been twice now, and each time has left us with a lovely memory. We had picnics on both visits, enjoying the garden colors, delicious food and wine, and the service. Our vegetarian guest and the young girl with us were both happy with what was offered.

The setting is beautiful, just a short walk from Bornato Castle, and the staff were always friendly and helpful. Their own wine was excellent, and the picnic menu felt carefully chosen and balanced. They could adapt it for food intolerances at no extra charge, and the value for money was excellent. A picnic here is well worth recommending.
